EU crews are recommended to have Russian visas starting 1st November

As it was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Alexander Lukashevich because of the lack of a harmonized EU position on the question of official passports, work was being delayed on a draft modernized visa regime agreement between Russia and the EU. During the negotiations on the simplification of that regime, the Russian side proposed that the visa-free regime applies to official passports, but during the last round of negotiations the policy was limited to holders of official passports with electronic information carriers.

According to Lukashevich, at the request of the MFA and the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Border Service of the Federal Security Services decided not to hold airplane crew members without visas liable to minor charges, and that this policy was in place till October 31.

So after that date starting on the 1st November 2012 an extension of the moratorium would not be provided. Moreover according to diplomat, visas would become a requirement, regardless of whether the crew planned to leave the aircraft while on the territory of Russia, or stay inside.

Taking into account that at the moment visas on arrival can be arranged only in Moscow we kindly recommend you to arrange visas for your crew in advance.

Streamline OPS as your reliable partner and one of the leading Flight Support in Russia and CIS is glad to offer you our assistance in arranging invitations for 1-year Multiple Russian Air Crew Visas. Please be advised that it is not a quick procedure: invitation takes about 1 month, so it is necessary to apply in advance.

With those invitations your crew members will be able to apply for Russian visa in the Consulate of Russian Federation of their residence country. The price of visas is according to official tariffs and can be clarified in the Consulate of Russian Federation in your country.
